Nest tube surveys
A nest tube survey involves deploying nest tubes in hedgerows or trees within the site and checking the tubes in the period from April to November.
Each month has a score relating to the probability of finding dormice present in any of the nest tubes. Surveys need to achieve a minimum search effort score of 20 which is accepted sufficient to provide confidence in a result of absence.
Tubes should not be checked more than once per month but the number of tubes may be increased to attain the index of probability score.
